Cubase 14 Review

The new Cubase version 14 comes with a bunch of interesting features and feels way more complete than its predecessor. Or maybe it’s just me, because i never really liked Cubase 13 and i’m glad that this period is over 🙂

Don’t miss my “Honest Review” of Cubase 14 Pro! This time there isn’t much to rant about, but some things are still a bit weird. Although, that’s just me again, because i don’t have access to pre-release-date promo versions, so my critical points might be mostly “first-impression/no-testing” statements.

Anyways, enjoy my Cubase 14 review and don’t forget to like and comment:

Producing a Track

I’ve made a mixing tutorial in which i share some cool arrangement tricks and tips and also demonstrate my mixing workflow and general strategies.

I try to spice up a dreamful and romantically sad track, create a modern sounding drum part and add drops and other interesting moments to the song:

Like always, i work in Cubase and use many of its stock-plugins. I also cover techniques like “Render in Place”, “Volume Automation” and “Lanes”.

I think it’s a nice productive session and the final mix isn’t bad at all. Maybe it will turn out to become the next The Ground Noise musical release?

Dark Ambient in Cubase

I’ve made a video on how to create a dark ambient track in Cubase. And because that alone isn’t too special, since Cubase is a top-notch DAW and you can make all sorts of music with it, i also decided to only use Cubase Stock-Plugins, like HALion, PadShop and Retroloque. Just to turn the project into more of a challenge.

The result is only about one minute long and didn’t turn out as dark as expected, but that’s fine. I hope you find it somehow inspiring enough to create your own dark ambient track in Cubase, or another DAW.

Cubase Nation

It’s worth mentioning that my video was shared in the Cubase Nation Discord! It’s a relevant Steinberg Fan-Discord, recognized and supported by Steinberg. A big shoutout to the community there and to the Admin for inviting me!
