If you’re interested in learning more about modular synthesizers, the entry step is very low nowadays.
While a “real life” analog Eurorack System is very expensive, there is a virtual version available that runs in the DAW like any other VST-Instrument. It’s called VCV Rack and was developed as Open Source Software.
So another group of developers (DISTHRO) made their own version of it and here we go: Cardinal Synth is 100% free and gives you over 1000 Modules to play with!
Cardinal Synth Tutorial for Modular Noobs
The only thing that’s missing are some beginner-friendly tutorials, right?
Well, i’ve just made such a tutorial video where i guide you through your first modular steps. We create a cool sounding patch that features two oscillators, a filter, LFO and everything else you need to make some noise π
I also go into detail and also explain why certain modules are needed and what they do. Check it out:
Short Version
Because i was under the impression that the video maybe would be too long, i’ve also made a very short version about the same things for people who think they’re smart enough π
