Pigments 6 Ambient Loop

Making a simple ambient loop is always a pleasing thing to do. Whether you want to forget about the crazy world outside for a while, or you need an ambient backing track to improvise and practice over it.

I’m creating 3 different sounds – Pad, Bass and Melodic Fill – in Arturia Pigments 6. There is the new Modal Engine which can simulate the natural behaviour of acoustic instruments, and new filters and randomizers that i’m gonna check out.

Working with Pigments always is a bit overwhelming and intimidating, so i recommend the “trial and error” method to check out new functionality. Just take it easy and have some fun 🙂

Especially the new Modal Engine is kind of difficult to understand at first. So far i mainly use it to spice up a normal wavetable of analog sound to give it more character.

The last step in this video is to let the sequencer in Pigments come up with random and ever-changing melody fills to make this simple 2-Chord (Gsus2 / Csus2) loop kind of infinite.

As always, i hope the video helps you to understand Pigments and inspires you along the way.
