If you are a YouTube-Creator you probably heard about the new Auto-Dubbing feature. The idea is to translate your video into many different languages and have an AI-Voice read it to the audience. This way you can reach viewers all around the world and make it easier for them to understand you. Well…
At first it sounds like a pretty neat idea, right? Unfortunately it’s just another half-assed feature, one of many weird things that’ve been added (and will be added) to YT since Neil Mohan took over the platform… sorry, the “Economy”. For the YouTube CEO it’s no longer about Creators and People, it’s about Products and AI.
Hey, let’s be honest: We Creators are way too stupid to make videos on our own. And we are way too slow! In order to fasten the YouTube shitification it’s absolutely necessary to establish more bots and fake content on the platfo… um, Economy. And AI, Baby!
What’s the actual problem with Auto-Dubbing?
Auto-Dubbing in its current state kills your watchtime! It creates a disgusting and almost laughable viewer experience, because it’s so bad!
- It manipulates your content by turning down the original audio and replacing it with an AI-Voice
- The AI-Voice randomly switches from Male to Female (and the other way round)
- Not to mention that it runs completely out of sync, often with a couple of seconds delay
Regarding the last point, there’s a new feature coming that will change your lip movement to make it fit. Well done, YouTube 🥳
AUto-Dubbing messes up a Video’s Audio
ALL audio goes through the Auto-Dubbing system, completely messing up the sound! This includes not only background music, but also music from other videos you represent (like on Reaction-Channels), and – like in my case – music i produce in my video. This is not acceptable!
I highly recommend to shut off the Auto-Dubbing Feature Failure:
YouTube Studio/Settings/Upload defaults/Advanced settings/Automatic Dubbing
At the moment Automatic Dubbing might work for faceless channels that don’t have background sound going on. Everybody else should deactivate it. To be honest, I don’t have much hope that auto-dub will get better anytime soon. You know, when something is so half-assed made in the first place…
And Mr. Mohan is too busy in turning YouTube into an AI-Crapyard.
